Our Story

Who we are at

The Little Gym of Lafayette

My name is Chelsea Segura, and I partly own and operate The Little Gyms of Lafayette and the Northshore (Covington, LA)!  After working at The Little Gym of Baton Rouge in college, I decided that it was not fair that the children of Acadiana were deprived of the opportunity to use non-competitive gymnastics as a tool to grow developmental skills in a fun and safe environment to build confidence that leads to a lifetime of success!  After introducing The Little Gym concept to my parents, Ronnie and Tina Segura, they felt the same way and understood why I felt so passionate about bringing The Little Gym to Lafayette!  In March of 2010, we purchased the Lafayette franchise and opened our doors in January of 2011.

Because Lafayette was SO good to us and really embraced The Little Gym, we decided to spread the love a little more. We searched for a growing family community and landed in beautiful Covington, LA. In January of 2015, The Little Gym of the Northshore was born!  We have been working together very hard since then to make sure that The Little Gym of Lafayette and The Little Gym of the Northshore become all they can be, and more!

I have worked with children my entire life!  I began at a very young age babysitting and have loved working with children ever since.  Throughout my 4 years at Louisiana State University, when I wasn't working at The Little Gym of Baton Rouge, I was busy babysitting.  In addition, I have over 10 years experience in cheerleading, tumbling, and competitive gymnastics.  I graduated from LSU with a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology, the study of human movement.  The Little Gym's curriculum and philosophy pretty much sums up all that I have learned about gymnastics and human movement & development.

My parents and I are VERY excited and enthusiastic about children, families and The Little Gym itself.  I invite you to give me a call or stop by at any time to discuss how The Little Gym can greatly influence your child's future and lifetime success!

Our Philosophy of Three Dimensional Learning

The Little Gym of Lafayette, our environment is fun, but our purpose is serious. That’s why we embrace a proprietary philosophy called Three-Dimensional Learning, in which physical activity is a conduit for nurturing your whole child. The Three-Dimensional Learning approach to skill development means that every class we offer fosters growth in three holistic dimensions—Brain Boost!, Get Moving! and Citizen Kid!.  Read on to see how each dimension of learning helps your child grow into a well-rounded, well-adjusted super kid.

45 Years of

Serious Fun

An innovative educator, musician and kinesiologist, Robin Wes envisioned a nurturing place where children could explore their physical development, while also growing socially, emotionally and intellectually. He opened the first The Little Gym in 1976 in Bellevue, Washington and infused those early classes with the same positive, non-competitive spirit that characterizes us today. Forty-five years later, children at The Little Gym of Lafayette experience the benefits of Serious Fun.
