The Little Gym

our story

This year marks 50 years since The Little Gym first opened its doors and what a journey it’s been! What started as a single space dedicated to helping kids build strength and confidence has grown into a global community of families, instructors, and local business owners all committed to one thing: nurturing the whole child, one cartwheel at a time.

About us

A History
of Serious Fun

An innovative educator, musician, and kinesiologist, The Little Gym founder Robin Wes envisioned a nurturing place where children could explore their physical development, while also growing socially, emotionally, and intellectually.

He opened the first The Little Gym in 1976 in Bellevue, Washington, and infused those early classes with the same positive, non-competitive spirit that characterizes us today.

We’re proud to have been the OG of childhood development long before it trended online, and even prouder to grow alongside the mindful parents, passionate team members, and incredible kids who make this mission matter every day.

What Is Our Secret Sauce?

Our environment is F-U-N, but our purpose is SERIOUS. That’s why we embrace a proprietary philosophy called Three-Dimensional Learning, in which physical activity is a conduit for nurturing your whole child. The Three-Dimensional Learning approach to skill development means that every class we offer fosters growth in three holistic dimensions: Get Moving, Brain Boost, and Citizen Kid.

Get Moving

Developing flexibility, strength, balance, and coordination through varied physical activities and gymnastics skills.

Brain Boost

Nurturing listening skills, concentration and decision-making that benefit your child well beyond the gym.

Citizen Kid

Promoting sharing, teamwork, cooperation, and leadership through spending time with friends and peers.
