Covid-19 Safety Information


The health, wellness, and comfort level of your family is a top priority for us, now and always. We have implemented enhanced cleaning and disinfecting procedures in addition to new social distancing measures to ensure that members, families, and our team feel as comfortable as possible visiting The Little Gym of Springfield.

This document highlights the enhanced cleaning and disinfecting processes and social distancing procedures that we have implemented in our facility for both group and private activities.

Following the instructions from the CDC (Center for Disease Control) and EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), we have made considerable improvements to the way our facility is disinfected to make it so fresh and so clean, clean, clean! We know that many families already recognize The Little Gym as the cleanest place you can bring your child, and now more than ever, we will stay true to that sentiment. 

New Cleaning Standards: We have always used hospital-grade cleaners to clean and disinfect our facility, but we are now doing it more frequently to prevent cross-contamination.

  • We clean and disinfect the gym and gym equipment, including the big red mat and all small equipment used during class after each class/activity.
  • We clean and disinfect the Multipurpose room after each class/activity.
  • Bathrooms are be wiped down with disinfectant between classes and are fully cleaned and disinfected at midday and at the end of each day.
  • The lobby area is wiped down with disinfectant between classes and is be fully cleaned and disinfected at midday and at the end of each day.


Team Member Requirements: To promote the health and safety of our members and our team, you will see our instructors wearing masks as part of their uniform.  Their masks will be in place while in the lobby and other general areas of the facility. Team members are allowed  to have their masks down in the gym when leading exercise activities if needed to facilitate instruction and/or allow adequate airflow during vigorous activity when social distancing can be maintained, but will have their masks in place at all other times in the gym, especially while spotting gymnastics skills and at other times when they are not able to maintain at least 6’ between themselves and class participants. Team members' temperatures will be checked at the start of each shift, whenever they re-enter the facility if they should leave for any reason during their shift, and/or every 5 hours if they work an entire day and do not leave the facility during that time.


Participant Health Screening: A team member will be stationed at the lobby entrance prior to the start of each class time to perform temperature screening and check in participants. Parents will not have their temperatures checked unless they are staying to participate with or watch their child.  Parents are allowed to remain in the facility if they choose to do so, but they are required to maintain appropriate social distancing.  Mask wear is recommended for adults entering the facility. The lobby doors are now kept locked at all times to ensure that everyone entering the facility is screened prior to entry.

We ask that participants arrive 5-10 minutes prior to their scheduled activity so that we can complete the check-in process. In order to limit congestion in the lobby, we request that families NOT arrive more than 15 minutes prior to their scheduled time, and that parents avoid gathering in the lobby unless they plan to remain in the facility during the activity. We will do temperature checks at the door for all those who will be entering and remaining in the facility.


Masks for Class Participants: Children will be allowed to wear masks during class if they – or their parents - choose, but they will not be required to wear them (mask wear during exercise is not recommended for safety). Parents attending parent-child classes with their children will not be required to wear masks in the gym for the same reason, but are welcome to do so if they choose, but will be expected to maintain social distancing requirements with any non-family members.


Hand Washing Regulations: We are now implementing hand washing/sanitizing before and after each class. Parents and children will be asked to wash hands or use hand sanitizer directly preceding class and after class. In addition to the white hand sanitizer dispensers outside of both gym doors, there are pump bottles of hand sanitizer located throughout the facility and in the gym to use between stations. We will offer stamps as children are leaving the facility to any child that wants to/is permitted to receive them, but stamps will only be provided on the back of the hands after a child has washed their hands or used hand sanitizer.

Parent Sock Policy: In parent-child classes we are now asking all parents to wear socks inside the gym to maintain a more hygienic gym floor. Little ones will still be required to remain barefoot for safety on and around the equipment inside the gym.  We have a supply of men’s and women’s socks that we can provide if anyone forgets their socks. (First pair free of charge!)


Drinks and Water Bottles: Class participants are requested to bring a refillable water bottle that is clearly identifiable and/or labeled with their name. Paper cups will no longer be accessible for children to get drinks independently. If someone doesn't have a water bottle and needs a drink, they should request assistance from a team member.


Class/Camp Size Limitations: In compliance with state regulations, we are limiting participants for our activities to less than or equal to 50% capacity.  We have limited our class capacity during Phase 4 to 9 children per class, and our camp capacity to 10-12 children per camp (depending on whether or not there are siblings in camp sessions).


Additional Social Distancing Measures: We have arranged the lobby and multipurpose room chairs for required social distancing, and we have temporarily removed the books, toys, and excess furniture from the lobby to promote adherence to current safety requirements. We ask that siblings not enrolled in a class remain at home rather than coming to watch the class with a parent whenever possible in order to limit the number of people in the facility.

Cubbies for shoes and other belongings are now located in both the lobby and the multipurpose room to reduce congestion at the facility entrance. After check-in, class participants may use any available cubbies to store their belongings. Please use the cubbies rather than the chairs and tables to store belongings due to the limited number of chairs in the lobby.


Last, but not least, we are increasing our efforts to have all of our participant waivers in electronic format so that we can move toward a more touchless/paperless account management system.
