The Little Gym here is a clean space with energetic friendly employees - these are the things I like a lot about it. The location is also convenient and there are classes offered at a variety of times and many different programs to choose from. Thank you for giving candy at the end of every class!! My child thought this first Parent Survival Night was a blast. My disappointments with Little Gym are as follows: Not enough expectations for all children to behave appropriately and listen in class. I understand this is a non-competitive gym however when I observe kids in the classes for ages 4 - 6, 7, 8 years olds I see way too much horsing around in class and not listening and not participating allowed. It appears as though the teachers do not have control or do not care and yet I know that these teachers DO care and I can see they are frustrated when a class bends in this direction. My child is generally a good listener but this behavior from his peers in his Little Gym class can derail him into doing it too and I don;t want him to learn that this is acceptable. It's not a play class "open gym" time and these older kids are not toddlers yet they are acting like toddlers. There should be rules and consequences for behavior in class and I would like to see them enforced. I think they can be positive and upbeat and not feel like a punishment and yet be clear and for the purpose of making class effective and helping the teacher do their job. I am paying to be at Little Gym there so my kid can honestly learn some core skills in gymnastics and I feel he is not learning enough due mainly to this aspect of distraction in his classes. At this age my child knows that class is not the playground - he knows the difference. It's important to me he shows respect to the teacher by giving his attention and it's hard to keep that lesson going if other kids are allowed to do whatever they please. I saw another senior teacher handle this at a different gym in a nice way. The student was given warnings and reminders and after a couple of those the teacher had the student sit out of the class activities until they were ready to listen/participate. The student was allowed to observe class during this time, but not do any skills. In effect the child is allowed to watch a class in process that is operating how it should be - listening, attention, focus, and fun. During the "sit out" time, which was very brief, the teacher cheerfully invited the student to rejoin the group "we'd love to invite you to join us if you are ready to be a student with your class now" I liked the welcoming invitation. The teacher also asked the child if they were ready to come back to class after a few minutes of sit out time. I liked the concept of letting the child decide for themselves when they were ready to come back. This technique might not be what Little Gym would like to employ, but I thought is was effective and it was rarely used in classes because all kids new the rules and expectations. I think I saw this technique used once or twice in two years at this location. I would appreciate it if Little Gym could post some general rules in the waiting room for parents regarding audio levels and device use. I would like to sit quietly and watch class or read my book a little bit while my kid is in class. I cannot do either of those things with people loudly having full-on business calls or their other kids watching cartoons on their tablets with the volume cranked up. It makes me never want to be there. It's a precious hour of quiet time that is almost always polluted with this a surprising amount of this device noise. People talking or kids playing with toys in the waiting room is no problem of course - it's the device volume. It is shocking that people don't have an unspoken understanding of what is appropriate...nevertheless it appears they do not. Would it be possible to post a sign or two in the waiting room and/or include it in the post-class announcements for a week or two about a new courtesy rule about the waiting room area? Kids playing games or watching shows on tablets need to have headphones on or the volume off. Parents making lengthy calls please step outside to be mindful of the others inside. Thank you for listening to my ideas on how to improve our experience at Little Gym. I appreciate the opportunity to voice them.

Programs are fun and age specific. My son is encouraged and challenged but not forced to try new things in a fun safe place. Plus all the teachers are so fun and work great with the kids. We love the little gym.
