Our Story

Who we are at

The Little Gym of Lynbrook

Ali’s introduction to The Little Gym started when she was a toddler. She attended a The Little Gym at the age of 3 (as a Funny Bug!) and continued on for some years. When her eldest daughter Lyla was an infant, she knew she had to sign her up. She had memories of attending classes, even with her younger sister, and knew it would be a great way to enhance the social and cognitive development of her daughter. Watching her learn new skills and interact with the great instructors at The Little Gym was such a joy for her. She was very happy with the program, and looked forward to classes each week to see what milestones Lyla would accomplish. Some years later, an opportunity came up to start her own The Little Gym with her husband, Miguel, and they jumped at the chance!

Miguel’s first job was working in an afterschool and summer program in a local community center. He was a tutor and camp counselor and always had a way of connecting with children and is genuinely happy interacting with them because he is just a big kid at heart. Being able to own his own business with his wife, do something they are passionate about, and provide a service to the community makes this a perfect fit for them. They now have a new addition to the family, Talia, who loves to "hang" out at the gym too!

Our Philosophy of Three Dimensional Learning

The Little Gym of Lynbrook, our environment is fun, but our purpose is serious. That’s why we embrace a proprietary philosophy called Three-Dimensional Learning, in which physical activity is a conduit for nurturing your whole child. The Three-Dimensional Learning approach to skill development means that every class we offer fosters growth in three holistic dimensions—Brain Boost!, Get Moving! and Citizen Kid!.  Read on to see how each dimension of learning helps your child grow into a well-rounded, well-adjusted super kid.

45 Years of

Serious Fun

An innovative educator, musician and kinesiologist, Robin Wes envisioned a nurturing place where children could explore their physical development, while also growing socially, emotionally and intellectually. He opened the first The Little Gym in 1976 in Bellevue, Washington and infused those early classes with the same positive, non-competitive spirit that characterizes us today. Forty-five years later, children at The Little Gym of Lynbrook experience the benefits of Serious Fun.
