Our Story

Who we are atThe Little Gym of Dayton

Welcome to the Little Gym of Dayton

The Little Gym of Dayton is owned by myself, Melinda Grigorian and my husband Reza.  Reza and I have four children – well more like we have 2 sets of 2.  We have a 20 year old, a 15 year old, a 4 year old and our baby will be 2 in November.

For over 19 years I worked for the United States Air Force and when we had our third baby I was extremely fortunate to take an extended break.  With our older girls I learned how fast they grew up and wanted to spend as much time with our younger two as possible.

During my sabbatical I searched the area for Mommy & Me activities I could do with our toddler.  I wanted a gymnastics program for him/us and couldn’t find it.  After months of searching good friends invited us to their son’s birthday party at the closest The Little Gym 45 minutes away.  From the second we walked in I fell in love.  I loved the space, the employees, the program and the overall feeling of fun.  The Little Gym is the exact experience I wanted for our two small children.

Needless to say the then sabbatical from civil service turned into permanent separation and I started the adventure to open our The Little Gym here in Dayton.

We are absolutely thrilled to have this opportunity to serve the greater Dayton area.   As military transplants we arrived in Dayton in 2005 and decided to stay.  We love the area and the family friendly vibe it gives.

Owning our The Little Gym has been a dream come true and an experience for our entire family. Stop by to see us and enjoy an introductory class, I’m sure you will love it as much as I do!

Our Philosophy of Three Dimensional Learning

The Little Gym of Dayton, our environment is fun, but our purpose is serious. That’s why we embrace a proprietary philosophy called Three-Dimensional Learning, in which physical activity is a conduit for nurturing your whole child. The Three-Dimensional Learning approach to skill development means that every class we offer fosters growth in three holistic dimensions—Brain Boost!, Get Moving! and Citizen Kid!.  Read on to see how each dimension of learning helps your child grow into a well-rounded, well-adjusted super kid.

40 Years of Serious Fun

An innovative educator, musician and kinesiologist, Robin Wes envisioned a nurturing place where children could explore their physical development, while also growing socially, emotionally and intellectually. He opened the first The Little Gym in 1976 in Bellevue, Washington and infused those early classes with the same positive, non-competitive spirit that characterizes us today. Forty years later, children at The Little Gym of Dayton experience the benefits of Serious Fun.
