Practice Time FAQs
Parents, have you heard the exciting news?! The Little Gym has added another opportunity for your child to Get Moving and have Serious Fun with us! It's called Practice Time. You can sign your child up to come for an additional 30-45 minutes (depending on age group) where they'll get to practice last week's skills, play a fun game and make new friends! Since Practice Time is new to all of us, here are some FAQs to help you figure out what it's all about.
What is Practice Time?
Practice Time is an opportunity for your child to Get Moving for more Serious Fun at The Little Gym! It is a 30-45 minute session that is based on the previous week's Lesson Plan. The children will explore on the equipment, practice the skills they learned last week and participate in other group activities.
How is Practice Time different from Classes?
The Curriculum for our classes is very structured and theme-based whereas Practice Time leaves more time for independent exploration. Practice Time is based on the previous week's Lesson Plan so the kids will review skills that they've learned and play games they know.
Is this similar to open gym?
No. Practice Time has been created to give your child more opportunities to learn physical skills, enhance their listening skills, and build their self-confidence in a safe environment. Practice Time is also divided by age group.
OK, I am excited. Tell me more!
Each Friday, an email will go out to all families with students currently enrolled in classes listing the practice times for the coming week. The times and age groups offered will change weekly to allow for everyone to get a chance to come. To enroll, you will need to call us at 216-752-9049 and reserve a space. Space is limited, so it is very important that you call before coming. Reservations are required.
How long is it?
Parent Child Practice Time will be 30 minutes. Pre-K and Grade School will be 45 minutes.
My child is signed up for dance/sports skills/karate. When do we get to come?
You would attend during the age- appropriate time. Since gymnastics is the core of each program we offer, we are giving kids the opportunity to practice their gymnastics skills. These skills contribute to their balance and flexibility which are also vital to sports, karate and dance.
Can I bring a child not enrolled in class to Practice Time?
Since Practice Time works on skills the kids have been working on in class, it is very important that the child coming to Practice Time is enrolled in class. Unenrolled friends or siblings are welcomed to watch from the lobby (babes in arms must be in a carrier).
