Dave and Sarah Thatcher along with their children, Autumn and Gray, are happy to bring the fun and excitment of The Little Gym to Guelph. As lifelong Guelph residents, the Thatcher's are thrilled to be able to offer a new and unique program to the children of this city.
Sarah Thatcher has had a variety of experiences working with all different types of children. She was a supply teacher at a local childcare centre, a camp counselor for 10 years, a behaviour specialist and although she did not pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education she has always loved and had a desire to teach and nurture children. After living in Europe and because of her love of languages, Sarah decided to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in German at the University of Waterloo. Upon graduating she found a job as a Project Manager for a translation company. Using her excellent organization skills and keen attention to detail she managed all aspects of complex translation projects from start to finish. Sarah was also able to travel to many countries as part of the translation process in order to pilot test the translations in their target country to ensure complete accuracy. Shortly after the birth of her daughter, Sarah discovered that her desire to travel independently had diminished and she decided to look for a more “family friendly” working situation. After researching The Little Gym extensively, Sarah felt that this would be a great opportunity for her to run the gym while allowing her and Dave to raise their daughter together.
David Thatcher has been working for 14 years in customer service, sales and fundraising positions. After working for two years as a Campaign Representative for World Vision, Canada’s largest humanitarian organization, Dave took a position as Project Manager for the Masai Centre in Guelph. The Masai Centre is Ontario’s 14th funded HIV/AIDS clinic and Dave was responsible for coordinating the efforts to raise awareness and support from the residents in Guelph in order to fund an HIV/AIDS clinic in Lesotho, Africa. Dave is known for his friendliness and his ability to relate to a wide variety of people and to make them all feel important. Dave spent 6 years coaching elementary and high school sports.
Dave and Sarah were recently awarded a 40 Under 40 Award by the Guelph Mercury for their contributions to the city of Guelph. They are very thankful for this recognition and appreciate the support of the families in the community.
Along with their dedicated team at The Little Gym of Guelph, they are honoured to be able to provide such wonderful recreational opportunities to the children in the city. All of the team loves seeing so many children learn and grow under their guidance at The Little Gym of Guelph.
