We're changing up the beat and introducing two new Hip Hop classes! Hip Hoppers will introduce fun and funky moves to kids 4-6 years old and Hip Hop Steppers will allow kids 6-12 years old to really get in the groove with more advanced skills. Both classes combine the best parts of Hip Hop and Gymnastics to put a fresh spin on some old-school moves! Kids will be exposed to jazz and Hip Hop styles, learning specific moves and exploring creative freestyle dance. They will even have the chance to choreograph and interpret their own self-expressive moves, dancing their way to a more confident groove! Hip Hop FAQs Q: What is the attire for Hip Hop/are additional shoes required? A: Students can wear their usual gym or dance attire. Any tights should be footless or convertible tights for their safety in the gym. Children should wear clean sneakers/tennis shoes or Jazz/Dance sneakers. Q: Why does the Hip Hop class begin at age 4 instead of 3? A: Our Jazzy Bugs program provides 3 year olds with a great Dance foundation from which to grow from and then transition into Hip Hop. The exposure to Ballet skills and coordination gained from Tap will be a great background for 3 year old dancers to have when they are old enough to enroll in Hip Hop. Q: What are the class elements of Hip Hop? A: Similar to the current Pre-k and GS Dance programs, the Hip Hop classes will be a combination of 30 minutes of Hip Hop in the Multi-Purpose Room and 30 minutes in the gym.
