If you haven’t stopped by yet, come say hi to Miss Noelle and the rest of the team at our new location.

Hi Miss Noelle!

The Little Gym of Alamo Heights has moved into a new location, 5320 Broadway Street, in the city of Alamo Heights. It's across from the Starbucks.

The new location hasn’t been open long, but it’s already hosted some action. Miss Leilani demonstrates to students in a sports skills class in the picture below.

If you’ve attended a class this week, you might have heard in a class announcement that The Little Gym of Alamo Heights is moving to a brand new facility a couple minutes down the street. If not, here’s the news.
We’re very excited to announce that The Little Gym of Alamo Heights is moving to 5320 Broadway in the city of Alamo Heights! The lease is signed, the construction is underway and we’re expecting to move in over the Thanksgiving break.
I wanted to take this opportunity to share some of the progress and a little background on the decision to move. As you’ll see in the pictures and descriptions below, we’ve invested in a lot that’s new. We’ll be bringing our major equipment with us, so all classes will be at 5320 Broadway after Thanksgiving if the construction goes as planned.

Construction Site Picture Length of Gym
In the picture above from Monday, November 1st, you can see from where the dance room will be all the way back to the restroom and storage closet in the back of the gym area. Floor to ceiling windows will give you the improved view when it’s finished. The dance room and lobby will have hardwood flooring. A big improvement in the gym will be a special gymnastics flooring from the manufacturer Dollamur.

Future Wifi Bar
On Thursday, I stopped in again at the construction site and found the electricians finishing some of the network, phone and power outlets at the new front desk and office. If you notice, there’s an electrical outlet halfway up the wall on the right of the picture above. That will be the power for your laptops at our new Wifi Bar!

Plumbing picture
Also on Thursday, the plumbers were waiting for their inspection so the walls can be finished and they can close up the holes in the floor they made to run new lines. In the picture above, you can see the bathroom that will be located off the lobby and the plumbing to the lobby water fountains and sink in the dance room.

High Ceilings
The ceilings are being built higher in the new location for more flexibility in gymnastics classes. In the picture above, you might notice the outline of an area where the ceiling will be about a foot higher above where the balance beam will be. That raised area and a similar one above the uneven bars will allow our advanced grade school gymnastics classes to perform skills requiring more height.

The raised ceilings are an example of the lessons we’ve learned from our first location of The Little Gym which Kerri and I had built out on Thousand Oaks in NE San Antonio. The older students who’ve grown up with us and learned so much over the last 6 years have enjoyed this opportunity to learn. We’re happy to be able to provide the same opportunity when this new location opens.

The Little Gym of Alamo Heights has been serving the Alamo Heights community from the current location on Broadway just north of the city limits for the past 5 years. Before Kerri and I purchased this location in May from the initial ownership group, we knew a decision had to be made at the end of the 5 year lease that was coming soon. As we looked at the customer database, we found that many of the parents were driving in from south of the gym. And we were very excited to find this new space in the heart of Alamo Heights. I hope you find it will be convenient to you and you will take advantage of the big investment we’ve made in improving the facilities.

On this date six years, my husband and I opened The Little Gym of NE San Antonio for the first time.  Then, two months ago, we were fortunate enough to buy The Little Gym of Alamo Heights.  So, this seems like the perfect opportunity to reflect back on the experience of owning a location (and now 2) of The Little Gym.

In my six years of experience as a business owner, there are 2 related questions that I have been asked over and over by our Members and their friends.  “You and your staff are always so friendly and happy.  How do you keep that up?” and “How do you find such patient and caring teachers?”

We look for instructors that are positive, passionate about physical fitness, and truly are excited about working with kids.  We take them through a multi-step interview process and really get to know them.  When we find a kid magnet with all of the above characteristics, we have lucked out and found another amazing TLG teacher.  They are also lucky, though, because for that unique person, working at TLG is fun!  We get to tumble, play, sweat, work hard, and meet amazing kids and their parents.  More than that, every day is filled with kids’ successes:  a one-year old taking his first steps, a two-year old feeling confident enough to let go of mom’s hand during the warm up, a seven-year old doing a back handspring by herself for the first time.  That is what keeps our instructors going and why they are so energetic and happy every day.

So, highlights of the last six years as a The Little Gym owner and teacher?  Sharing successes with kids.  Meeting wonderful, invested parents. But, also getting to know so many fantastic staff members that are dedicated to making your child’s week a little more magical.  Thank you to all team members past, present, and future.  You rock!

We're excited to announce some pretty big things happening at The Little Gym. And by "big" we mean enormous. Gigantic. Humongous. All this bigness is coming in the 2011-2012 Season, but we're so excited that we just have to tell you about it now.

Capitalizing on over 35 years of hands-on experience, a mountain of research and thoughtful feedback from parents like you, The Little Gym is launching an enhanced program structure designed to maximize the benefits of our already popular curriculum. Within this new structure, all of our programs will be broken into themed, multi-week Learning Units that lead to a natural progression of skills throughout the Season.

These program enhancements will result in big learning, big fun and big grins. And we think that's a pretty big deal. Call 822-9252 today to learn more about all of the new changes or to reserve your space in the 2011-2012 Season!  Enroll now and receive a free gift!
